Savannah Noelle

It has been 3 months and Miss Savannah, along with her older brother and dad, is the center of my world!!

I know it has been a while, so let me catch you up!

My due date was February 5th (was hoping for the 6th so she could share the same birthdate as my maternal grandfather). However, Miss Thing was snug inside the womb and FINALLY made her appearance on February 10th @ 10:46 PM with an audience watching her debut (Daddy, Big Brother, Auntie Chelle and Auntie Trina). Labor and delivery wasn't too bad, but was overjoyed to meet my little angel. She weighed 6lbs and 12.6 oz and was 21 in. long. Being like her mother, loving to do things differently, she went home in a snow storm!

Our first few days, were great! She slept and we just looked at her. Today, she has been a GREAT baby. She does not cry unless she is hungry and sleeps thru the night (have been since she was 7-8 weeks). Her personality is starting to shine through. She loves to smile and laugh, however, do not bother her too much as she will cut a look at you to leave her alone!

She is cute as a button (but not saying so just because she is my child....well...she could not help it, she has great genes). :-) I shop all the time and find so many adorable outfits! She is a Diva In Training! Her shoe game is on point. Yes, I said SHOES! She has plenty.

At any rate, I may post some pictures of her soon!

Update

I am on the countdown....my due date is Friday and so far, NOTHING!! I am not having any contractions! I am so anxious to see my baby girl, but she is somewhat of a DIVA and not ready!

Her room is complete and just waiting for her arrival. I have to add the remaining pictures and will do this later this afternoon.

I will keep you posted on when Miss Thang does show up!

Nursery, Part 4

Savannah's nursery is about 80% complete. The things that are remaining is the bookshelves around the window, hang curtains and sew the cushion for the window seat and a pillow in the damask fabric. I will tackle of this over the weekend.

Here are the latest pictures of her room:

Another view from doorway, window (bookshelves will flank window and table will be a window seat)

View from window, toward crib.

There is a blank wall, where the chair is positioned. I had a large "S" that I was going to hang, but it broke (made of composite material). I think I will order a vinyl stencil with her name or maybe have her Big Brother draw her name on the wall.

It is late and I am tired. My back is hurting, but still not contractions. I am just a day shy of 37 weeks. I think once I get her room completed, I will be anxious for her arrival. Right now, I need more time. Also, it would be nice if she were born on my Grandfather's birthday, February 6. We shall see...

Attack of the COWS

OK...I was born and raised in Atlanta, but now reside in the 'burbs, which is still somewhat rural. I have lived in McDonough for 5 years in a subdivision next to a hay field and cow pasture. Well...in all my 5 years of staying here, I have never seen a sight like I saw tonight!

On the way home from picking up my son from a basketball game, there was a cow grazing in the front yard of one of the neighbors! It shocked me so, I slammed on brakes (luckily, no one was behind me)! This cow was HUGE! I did not know what to do!!! I ended up calling the Police (non-emergency line, of course). It was a sight! My sister and I went back and took pictures!

Nursery, Part 3

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! 2010...wow...can you believe it?? I wish all of you peace, love and prosperity in the New Year!

I spent the eve of 2010 at home, actually trying to finish some projects for the nursery. As of today, the room is painted, furniture and bedding delivered and carpets cleaned.

Paint color - Naturally Calm by Behr (lavender with a bluish/gray tint).

Furniture - Hartford crib and dresser by Rockland (distributed by JC Penney).

Bedding - Heavenly Soft Minky Dot by American Baby Company (ordered from Baby Supermall.com). I started to adorn the dust ruffle with a damask fabric or rather a table runner I fell in love with at Z Galleries.

Here is a before and after picture.

I want to say thanks to my sister for cleaning the carpets (luv ya Chelle)!!

Odds/Ends - painted unfinished wood brackets to hold some shelves over the changing table for easy access to diapers, wipes and the like. Assembled the artwork in the picture frams. Additionally, I painted some iron jacks (you know the old game) I found at Garden Ridge and a coat hook from Marshall's.
Left to do...oh GOD! It seems like I have a list that is a mile long! The furniture needs to be assembled and placed. I need to put up a shelf in the closet for more clothes!!! I need to purchase the bookshelves and make the cushion for the window seat. Also, I need to decided if I am going to paint the "S" monogram found at Marshall's in a shiny silver or leave it as is (which it is a matte silvery tone). Chelle says to go with the shiny...but I am not sure! I will think about it over the next day.

Needless to say, I have a long week ahead of me as I want all of this completed by this weekend.
Wish me luck.....!

Baby Name

If you haven't noticed already, we do have a name picked out.

It is Savannah Noelle!! Savannah was my great-grandmother's name (on my mom's side). It also happens to be the only name that DF and I could agree on. :-) I will not begin to tell you all the names he liked, which were too "throwback" for me.

On the storyboard of her nursery, I have Savanna, instead of Savannah. I went back and forth on the spelling and pronunciation. You know, you say Savannah and I say Savanna (sa vaugh na) and decided to use the traditional way. With a little "Mini-Me" on the way, she will be anything but traditional or conventional! Like her dad says, "just like her mom"! He does not have a clue what he is in for, but then again, he does! :-)

Well, sleep is a precious commodity nowadays and I am very tired! I will chat with you all later.

Nursery Update, Part 2

The nursery is starting to take shape. We have all of the walls painted and baseboard trims. The furniture will be arriving tomorrow, December 29th. However, we need to have the carpets cleaned before we assemble and positioned the furniture. I have a few more things to purchase, which I will have this weekend. It looks like I will be spending my New Year's Eve decorating! It's no biggie...since I am a "biggie" and do not want to go any where...outside of church.

At any rate, here are the pictures. Oh...by the way, I saw the chair at Marshall's on Saturday and hesitated before deciding to purchase. Wouldn't you know it that someone bought the last two when I went back!!! Needless to say, I called almost every Marshall's and Home Goods in Atlanta before finding the chair. This goes perfect with the rest of Savannah's decor.
